I can’t remember what the release was but I remember hearing about a recent 4K boxed set released where the quality was total dogshit. It also costs time and money to up-convert all that stuff and you need to make sure every frame is perfect. There’s a whole technical reason for this that I would butcher if I tried to explain it. The other reason being apparently it’s much harder to convert newer movies that were shot digitally to 4K than older movies that were shot on film. I know part of the reason why movies haven’t been widely transferred from 1080 to 4K is cause the difference on a standard size tv is fairly negligible. I really hope Prisoners does soon cause I love that movie too. I’m sure they’ll both get a 4K release within the next few years.
